I have just an hour or so before I must go to sleep.

I have discovered a new pet peeve. Today as I was working, this woman came in jabbering on her cell-phone. She only half-listened to moi, the cashier, as she talked and talked and listened to whomever she was engaged in conversation. When she walked off with her food, she was STILL talking on her phone.

This happened several times while I worked, and not just to me. C, at the cafe register, was taking a woman's order when her cell phone rang and she proceed to blab into it. "Hi, we're at Panora," she said into the phone, which made me snicker loudly, and I had to run off the back-room before I was fired. (Did I mention the name of our store is PANERA? It says right on the huge sign out front.) So, anyhoo, she pretty much ignored C for quite some time as he stood waiting. Luckily, the store wasn't busy and there was no line, so she could pretty much get away with it. But you KNOW that even if there was a line, she probably still would have stood there talking on her phone. Some people are just idiots.

I have many more stories to tell. They are all amusing. But this post is so long now it's probably caused you to lose attention. So, hasta luego.

Here I am again. Ah, well.

Our internet was down yesterday. It was quite a travesty. However, I have recovered. Just as well, though. I have a job interview at Panera Bread on Thursday. I'm excited and ready to try being employed again. It's been an interesting week. In fact, so interesting that I don't remember most of it. Which is mostly a good thing. The highlight of my day is now watching Futurama on Cartoon Network. It's a damned shame the FOX network killed that show. They had a good thing going, especially since the Simpsons is getting kinda OLD *hint hint hint*. Anyway, so right now I'm ripping yet another episode off Kazaa. But you didn't hear it from me. *shakes fist at FOX*

The past two days I have been doing work in my sister's office to help her catch up. She's not been feeling well lately. So, because of that I haven't had time to do my exercises these past few days. Which depresses me. Gotta get back on the treadmill before I lose the habit!

In other news, I had a Spanish test earlier this week and an Anatomy and Physiology test today. I know I did well on the Spanish, but I'm not sure about the other one. We'll see.

Ah, Friday... it's so nice and quiet in the house. If I had wanted to drink blueberry-flavored water, I would have purchased blueberry-flavored water. As it was, this sorry excuse for a flavor-enhanced bacterial culture was little more than an assault on my senses.

To be fair to the poor, unloved fat-free yogurts of the world, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever tasted. But if I had to choose between fulfilling yogurt and shaving a few ounces of fat from my lunch, I think I'd choose the flavor. Fat is hardly the sole cause of obesity and weight gain, anyhow. It's the consumption of mountains of sugar and carbohydrates followed by lying around on one's fat ass for days on end with no cardiovascular exercise.

And people are suing McDonald's for making them fat.
*Goes off to purchase completely isolated tropical island*

I'm bored. I spent my whole day off sitting around doing nothing. Not that there's anything WRONG with that, of course...

The television is on, and my family is enraptured by the cultural rat poison which spews forth from its depths. Myself, I'd like to take a hammer to the thing. Its insipid programming is nothing short of revolting. Nothing good is EVER on. Why couldn't there at least be an anime channel? That might begin to redeem television programming.

It's back to classes tomorrow. Thankfully, I'm not dreading it. I am deeply relaxed. I had a nap this afternoon with my cat, I have no class tomorrow, and all is well.

Going to run tonight some more. Call me crazy, but I'm starting to enjoy the exercise. Though I'll never forgive Cartoon Network for axing the 8:30 Yu-Gi-Oh! timeslot which made my run that much more entertaining, I shall, of course, survive. A favorite new anime of mine is Yu-Yu Hakusho. The previews used to turn me off initially, but it's actually quite entertaining. Certainly not on the level of Cowboy Bebop (no other anime will ever come close), but it holds my interest. I am also watching Futurama, which is on Cartoon Network now five nights a week. Yaaaay! I love you, Adult Swim!

An interesting side note: I survived yet another Sunday of church. Today I almost walked out though. Apparently, since yet another anniversary of Roe V. Wade is drawing near, it's supposed to be "Sanctity of Human Life" Sunday. This always chaps my ass. Why not the "Sanctity of ALL Life" Sunday? What really makes humans so important? I think, quite possibly, that most fundy types think themselves too important to be on any sort of level with animals. By elevating themselves (or, rather, lowering the animals), they can validate and/or condone any act of cruelty against the animal kingdom. "God made humans more important than animals. Sure, they're cute, but we're SO much more important!"

Take a look at some of these pictures: http://eces.org/gallery/foodgfx/food03.shtml
This is what we do to provide the all-important Big Mac to the all-important American.

I truly believe that until we humans learn to take care of the creatures under our care, our lifestyles will continue to be severely imbalanced. And no matter what the preacher tells you, Jesus isn't gonna come back and fix it all, either. If he DID come back and happened to take a look around, he'd probably say something like, "Look what you did to the creation I gave you. Why should I fix everything when you can't even take care of what you've got? You'll probably just screw it up again. Damned humans."

I'm going to go upstairs and hug my cat.

Okay, I was just browsing through Yahoo! news articles when I found this: http://my.webmd.com/content/article/53/61186.htm?z=1728_00000_1000_ln_01
It's an article that basically says that woman are now found to be able to sucessfully have children at the age of 50.

Here's my question: who the HELL would want to have a baby at 50? I can think of SO many reasons not to. First of all, the age thing. By the time the kid grows up, the mom would be almost 70. 70! Imagine having a kid in their teenage years when you're that old. At that age, I want to be sleeping in late and taking trips to the Caribbean... in fact, I think I'll do that for my WHOLE adulthood instead of the end of it.

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a fan of children and the obsession surrounding them in American culture. They just don't appeal to me. I can think of hundreds of things I'd rather do with my life and youth than spend them wiping butts and runny noses. And my senescence? Fuhgetabouttit.

I know this will probably piss people off. So sue me for not contributing to the future of America. I've seen that future, and I want no part in it. I could have no life... wait, I don't have a life. Well, let's just change the subject, shall we? I turned in the research paper, and gladly too. Tonight my family is going out to eat and they want me to go. I dunno. I really don't feel like moving from this spot on the couch. I feel like going to sleep for a really, really long time. Had lunch at Panera Bread with sister, brother and brother's GF. Good food. Went back to help brother's GF clean apartment. Everything has gone well, except for the internet being on the fritz this morning.

Well, finally I get back here at about 4:30 and check my mail. What's this? Five messages in the in-box? And....16 in the Bulk Mail folder? (This is supposedly the folder in Yahoo! Mail where all the spam goes. Yet, somehow, spam has been leaking into my regular in-box and annoying me there. Nice.)

I'm gone three hours and I've got 21 spam mails. Yes, it was all spam. Who are these fuckers? If I ever meet the people sending me crap like "Here's your chance to win 40 lbs. of lobster" or "Enlarge your penis safely and naturally" (I'm female, by the way), I'll wring their skinny pencil necks and push them out into heavy traffic. Good riddance.

(On a lighter note, my weekend promises to be full of doing absolutely nothing at all. I'm really not.

Okay, I lied. I am. But that said, I don't bitch ALL the time. It just seems like it, and it's hard to tell if someone is being sarcastic or not when they're typing online. So bear in mind, I DO have a sense of humor, albeit a twisted one. Life doesn't suck ALL the time. :)

Get ready for my next blog....

My life is pure comedy. This evening, as I was rounding the corner to head toward my computer in the living room, my foot made contact with the door jamb. I just thought you would like to know that no curses were uttered forth. I kept myself in check most admirably, even though I skinned off an entire layer of epidermis and bled all over the place. Had I uttered the stream of expletives which WANTED to escape my mouth, I would not be sitting here typing right now. But that's another story for another time.

At least, thanks to modern medicine, I won't contract gangrene and die from that little stunt. I have been plant-sitting my brother's girlfriend's plants, since she's been gone from her house over Christmas vacation. Today she decided to take her plants out into the living room to remember to take them home.

After she set them by her purse, kitty ambled over and tried to eat the cactus! She managed to 1) spill soil all over and 2) aid in the further decline of the poor plant, which we think might be dead. It's hard to tell with a cactus. Anyway, now it needs more soil. Lo and behold, it was cat vomit. Nice. Anyway, being too lazy to clean it up, I went back to my reading and forgot about it...

...until a few minutes later when one of the cats showed up. She appeared to take great interest in the small pile of vomit for some reason.

Now, normally, after hawking one up, the cat will sniff it and move on. Today must have been an off-day, however. She sniffed it and then tried to eat it.

But I intervened. Gross! "No, kitty!" I yelped, flailing my arms at her. She mewed and backed off into a corner, sulking. I went back to my book. About two minutes later she went for it again. "KITTY!" I screamed. When she didn't budge, I pushed her with my foot. Finally she got the message and skulked off again.

So I proceeded to lie down and rest. About ten minutes later I was suddenly made to open my eyes and sit up. There the cat was again, sniffing away and preparing to eat the mush of cat puke. For pity's sake! I think she's going senile or something. Why would ANYTHING want to eat vomit? I thought cats were smarter than that. Eeesh.

Well, the pile is still there. I stuck a paper cup over it and covered it with something heavy. Hopefully, that will do until I get off my butt and clean the darn thing.

Cats are strange, strange creatures.

Good afternoon. Here I sit, happily blogging and eating beef-flavored ramen. What could be better?

Actually, I could think of a few things. For starters: the telephone. I mean, I consider myself a fairly reasonable person. But this morning, someone or SOMETHING called the house at 10 AM. While I was asleep. And the phone rang, and rang, and rang. I think I had a nightmare after all that.

Okay, it might have been my mother calling, but she knows I'm usually asleep at 10 AM. That and I'm trying to enjoy my vacation time. Anyhow....

So, again with the calls. About half an hour later, another call. "Is blah blah blah there?" Being as polite as I could I answered that no, he was not. Then, while I was fixing my dinner, another call. For God's sake, people! I know telemarketers have to do their shtick 9-5 like everyone else, but do any of them consider the fact that some people actually WORK during the day? If they aren't calling at ungodly hours of the morning, they're phoning during dinner. I don't want your crappy products! Get out of my life!

Someday I'm just going to answer the phone in French. Maybe that will fix things. Or not, considering the audacity of these bottom-feeders....

Well, I was just sitting here wondering what to blog about when an idea came to me.

Tonight was a rather interesting evening. Everyone came home from work at around 5-ish. Then my mom decided to tell me that it was my job to go pick up the take-out dinner. She does this quite often, and I usually just grumble and do it. But tonight was no way, no how. I tried to stand my ground, but eventually I was forced out the door. I tore out of the driveway at my usual speed and headed toward the China Garden or whatever it was I was getting.

On the way, I decided that I would first buy my own food at Fazoli's, since I don't like Chinese that much and three handfuls of rice were not going to cut it for dinner. Went there, got my dinner, headed back toward Ye Olde Chinese Restaurant. Trotted inside. Lo and behold, the checkout chick informs me that the order was already gone. Apparently some guy had already been in and gotten it.

Well, I assumed that someone was either my brother or my dad. Anyway, so the trip was essentially a waste. I got home and noticed my dad's car was missing... oh, crap, I thought. Steeling my resolve I marched inside, sat down and burst into tears. My brother, the psychologist, marched me downstairs to confront my mother.

As this was going on, my dad arrived home and proceeded to lecture me about responsibilities and blah blah blah... and then my mom had her say. Apparently, what had happened was the entire house had heard me peel out of the driveway (which is nothing new, I do that every time anyway.) So everyone apparently feared my anger would cause an accident or something, and my dad took off after me.

(It is necessary to point out at this juncture that with the traffic jam of stupid people driving slowly on that one-lane highway, there was no WAY I could have an accident... Anyway, that's another blog for another time.)

Since I was NOT at Ye Olde China Garden Place, he apparently snatched up the food and went looking around for me. Good thing I hadn't gone there first or I would have been confronted in public... not a good thing.
So, basically, there was this whole spiel because I didn't like being told I HAD to go get the Chinese food. And we ended up talking for half of eternity while my food got cold.

I don't know what to think. I mean, no matter what I do, It's never ever good enough. I'm always getting some kind of criticism or other, which they insist is supposed to be constructive. Then I get lots of "I love yous" and "We want what's best for you" after the bitching session is over.
